What if I forget my password?
If you forget your password, go to the login page and select “Forgot Password?” Enter the email address associated with your account and we’ll email you a link to reset your password.
How can I change my password
On the mobile app, select the “My Profile” icon found in the lower right hand corner and choose “Change Password.”
On the desktop app, sign in to your account and go to “My Profile” to update your password.
How do I sign up for notifications?
To receive notifications, go to “My Profile” and opt-in to receive notifications related to your account. If you want to receive weather alerts, make sure to add the zip code(s) for your properties. While there, you can also sign up for the Know Your Stuff Insurance Update newsletter, which will help you get even more value from your insurance.
How can I update my email address if I don’t have access to that email anymore?
Log into your account to update your email address in the “My Profile” section. Contact Customer Support if you are unable to access your account.
I like the Know Your Stuff® tool; how can I refer a friend?
It’s easy to refer a friend. Simply go to the “My Profile” section, click on “Refer a Friend,” then enter their email address and we’ll send them an invitation to register for a Know Your Stuff® Home Inventory account.
Will all of my information transfer over when I upgrade to the new Know Your Stuff® Home Inventory tool?
To ensure the smoothest migration to the new Know Your Stuff® Home Inventory Tool on your mobile device, we strongly recommend that you make sure that you are running the latest version of the mobile app before updating.
Can I store video files in my Know Your Stuff® Home Inventory account?
Video file formats are not supported by the new Know Your Stuff® app. Please note that any video files associated with your account in the past will not be migrated to the latest version of the app.
How do I deactivate my account?
Deactivation is only possible via desktop. To do so, please go to your profile and select “Deactivate Account,” here you will be prompted to confirm the deactivation. Please note, Your Stuff will be deleted and irrecoverable 30 days after your initial deactivation.
How do I cancel a deactivation?
Canceling a deactivation would need to take place before the initial 30 days have passed in order to keep Your Stuff. To cancel the deactivation of your account, please go to your profile on a desktop and select “Cancel Deactivation.” You will then be prompted to confirm the cancelation.
Dashboard and “My Stuff” FAQs
What is the dashboard?
The dashboard gives you a clear view of your properties and belongings at a glance. You can view at a glance the value of your belongings, the number of properties, rooms, items and insurance policies you’ve added to the app.
What is “My Stuff”?
The Know Your Stuff® app is designed to provide important information about your belongings that you would need to file a claim with your insurance company in the case that you have a loss. The “My Stuff” feature offers an itemized presentation of your belongings. You can easily filter by property or by room.
How do I add items to “My Stuff”?
Adding your stuff is easy! First you add a property, then add the rooms and then input all of your items. Whenever you purchase a new item, you can simply add the information to the appropriate room to keep your inventory up-to-date.
Can I filter/sort my properties, rooms and items?
On the mobile app, ”My Stuff” will list all of your items by default. Select the “filter” button at the bottom of the page to allow you to see items in a specific room or category. On the web-based desktop app, when viewing “My Stuff,” you can select multiple rooms in each property to see an aggregated list of items.
How can I move an item from one property to another?
To move an item from one property to another, select the item by tapping/clicking the item name or photo in “My Stuff” and use the edit function to change its location.
Can I edit or a delete an item?
Select the item by tapping/clicking the item name or photo in “My Stuff” then follow the prompts to edit the item details. If you wish to delete the item, click the delete button at the bottom of the form.
How can I add multiple photos of an item or location?
To add a photo when adding an item/location, use the “Add Photo” button. You can repeat this step to add multiple photos.
What type of photos or files can be uploaded?
The Know Your Stuff® app allows uploading of JPG, JPEG, PNG, and GIF image types. It also allows uploading of PDF files for receipts and appraisals. File sizes should not exceed 8MB.
What is the “label” option on my items?
By adding a label to your items, you can organize and filter them by a category of your choice. For example, “Donate to Charity” or “Sell at Consignment Store.” You can create a new label or choose an existing label from the label dialogue box.
What if I sell or donate an item?
Depending on your preference, you can either delete the item or use the label function to mark it as “sold” or “donated.”
How many insurance policies can I add?
You may add up to 20 insurance policies to the Know Your Stuff® app. When adding multiple policies, make sure you give each policy a unique and descriptive name.
Importing Data FAQs
Can I import my inventory from the older, downloadable desktop version of Know Your Stuff®?
In the past, we have provided support to users in making the transition from the old, downloadable version of Know Your Stuff® to the more recent cloud-based version since its introduction in 2009. However, the older software is now significantly out-of-date and we cannot continue offering this service.
Can I import my inventory from the previous cloud-based version of Know Your Stuff®?
Data from the old web and mobile applications will be migrated to the new mobile and web applications. Depending on the mobile app version you are using, you may need to update the app or in some cases delete and re-install the latest version of the app. In either case, your data and log-in credentials will remain accessible.
Can I upload an existing inventory using an Excel file?
No, the Know Your Stuff® Home Inventory tool doesn’t support this function.
Exporting a Report FAQs
How do I export an inventory report of “My Stuff”?
Click the export icon found in the top right corner of the Dashboard and “My Stuff” sections. Select or filter the properties, rooms, and additional data you’d like to include in the report. Select the file format in which you’d like to receive your report. The report will be sent to the email address associated with your profile.
What file types are available for my inventory report?
You can export Know Your Stuff® reports in CSV, XLS and PDF formats, which are supported by most major image viewing and spreadsheet software.
How will I receive my Know Your Stuff® inventory report?
The report will be sent to the email address associated with your profile. Be sure to check your spam or junk mail box if you do not receive the report. You can check or update the email address associated with your account in the “My Profile” section.
